Dancer and Prancer (now Bella and Scotty) - adopted Dec. 27, 2015

Hello,

Dancer and Prancer have now settled into their new home. We have renamed them Bella and Scotty. They both seem quite content and are eating, drinking and have found their favourite sleeping spots. We are very happy they are part of our family now.
Cheers,
Paula

Cleo (formerly Temperance) - adopted December 16, 2015

Dear volunteers and staff from the Upper Credit Humane Society,

Thank you so much for all of the work you do day in and day out to care for the animals in your care.

I wanted to let you know that it is 12 days now since I brought Temperance home and other than having to change her name (because I couldn't say it) she is settling in beautifully.

She is now called Cleo and likes racing around the 2nd level of my house, batting around a toy squeaky mouse she got for Christmas and eating only rarely. She does make it clear when she is hungry though! She and my dog Mabel are also figuring out how to get along.

She has also adopted my office chair as her own, as you can see below:

Thanks again,

Sheri Stinson,
Mabel and Cleo

Bo (formerly Brody) - adopted October 21, 2015

We adopted Brody, who we nicknamed Bo, in October. We fell in love with him within minutes of being in the adoption room at the UCHS. We introduced Bo to our 5-month-old son and it was love at first sight for both of them. They are now inseparable and the best of friends. Bo is such a loving sweetheart with a bit of a mischievous side. We're always giggling at his silly "naughty" moments! Bo is a total cuddle monster and overall he was the perfect addition to our family!

Thank you to everyone at the Upper Credit for making it possible for us to find him. We can't wait to see Bo help our little guy open his presents and to give him his Christmas stocking.

Lots of love,

Bo's family

Bella (adopted Dec. 18, 2015)

Bella was adopted on Dec 18, 2015 and has made herself quite at home. Her new family loves her and Joy (calico cat adopted from UCHS in January 2014) appears to have taken a liking to her as well.

Murphy (formerly Hannibal Lecter) - adopted Dec. 14, 2015

Hannibal Lecter, which we have renamed to Murphy, is doing well. Loves his pellets and hay and his new big big house. He comes to us when we open his door and has been out of his house into his exercise ball, exploring..... He is very friendly and really energetic.

Stan (adopted June 9, 2015)

Hi. Sorry about the delay in not sending you pictures earlier.

Stan is adjusting well and both my wife and I are happy with him. He is still getting used to interacting with other people and other dogs so it is still going to take some time. If you have any suggestions that would be helpful it would be appreciated. Hope all is well. Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

The Kostas family

Fetch (adopted Nov. 21, 2015)

Fetch is loving his new home on the range. Thanks Upper Credit for our second amazing dog.

Winny (adopted Nov. 21, 2015)

Good morning former caregivers,

I just wanted to let you all know that I arrived safely at my new home Saturday night. Thanks again for staying late to let my new humans come get me - I hope they aren't always late for special events like this... I will have to keep my eye on them!

Otherwise, my humans seem quite nice. Mother goes to work and father stays home, presumably to take care of me full-time. I have also acquired 2 feline siblings, a canine sibling, and a lizard sibling. I have not explored the lizard situation yet, but I'll be sure to do so once I'm settled. The canine has no interest in me, so I like him the best right now. The 2 felines are playing nice and letting me eat and drink with them.

Did you know that one of the felines is also named Winnie? The humans have since started calling me Mallory - I suppose I'm ok with this. This is my new start after all.

I decided to spend my first night at my new house under the couch. I don't think anyone knew where I was and I liked it that way, after all, there is a LOT of new stuff for me to get used to. By the next morning though, I was hungry and decided to help myself to some breakfast. The resident felines were nice enough to lead the way and share their breakfast. The humans spotted me and I let them pet me for quite a while - they can be sooo needy! After that, I went back into hiding (they still don't know where I go when I'm hiding!). I come out when I please and will continue to come out more as I see fit. For now, I know where the essentials are and will continue to get settled over the next little while.

Thank you all for letting me stay with you so long.  It was just a matter of finding the right humans for me. Good job!

Sherlock (adopted August 2014)

October 18, 2015

Hello all! Thought you may enjoy a few pics of Sherlock enjoying his 2nd birthday today. He started off with a lovely walk in the ravine then home to check out his bag of toys and treats. He enjoyed his first "pup cake" today from the pet store and scarfed it before I got a pic. He also got a birthday dog cookie too. Lie is good for Sherlock as he is a great run buddy and he enjoys 3 good walks every day.

Bear (formerly Remington) - adopted Dec. 7, 2014

Hi there,

You might be getting tired of ‘Bear updates’ but I just love sharing pics of our wonderful boy!  He enjoys his yard so much and, half an hour after these walks, he’s fast asleep on one of our beds….he is seriously the best nap partner I’ve ever had!!

Take care,

Shannon

Morti (adopted Sept. 11, 2015)

Dear Upper Credit Humane Society,

It has been a month now since we have had the pleasure of welcoming Morti the cat into our home. With each passing day, Morti seems to feel more comfortable with us and with being part of our family. We have created a nice spot for him to perch in Liam's bedroom, and he likes to sit and cuddle up on our office chair.

Morti and our dog Finnegan seem to be getting along well enough - they have a mutual respect for each other's space, so that is good.

Morti is such a character! He is super cuddly, loves having his belly rubbed, and he loves playing with the string toy that we have for him. He follows us around often, especially in the morning, but also enjoys taking cat naps on Liam's bed in the afternoon.

It is such a pleasure having Morti in our lives. Morti has also proved a valued companion for Liam, who is struggling to fit in at a new school. So - yay for Morti!!! He is simply the "best cat ever" according to Liam.

Thanks for taking care of him at the shelter and for doing the great work that you all do!

Cheers,

Michael, Angela, Lily, and Liam

Flower and Bambi (adopted Sept. 19, 2015)

Hello UCHS,

Sorry its taken me so long to update....

These two piggies are a great addition to our household. They are getting along with our 3 dogs and two bunnies.

When the piggies are out during their 'exercise time' our Morkie (Charlie) has taken an interest in them. The three seem to be getting close and want to play (supervised of course).

Also when the pigs are out of their cage, we have caught a bunny in the piggies' cage - eating the piggy food--silly bun!!

Flower and Bambi love their food, they squeak for their dinner everyday at 5 pm ... (salad/carrots/apple pieces). They love their tunnel and hide under the blanket.

Carlos and Grover (formerly Carlo and Clover) - adopted August 22, 2015

We wanted to write to you to tell you how thrilled we are to have Carlos and Grover (formerly Carlo and Clover) as our fur babies. Your staff was absolutely amazing during our adoption process; we couldn't have wished for more caring and kind people to have helped us! Carlos and Grover have settled in very well; they are ALWAYS together! They adore their fuzzy gopher and house mouse toys their Grandma gifted them and often race through the house to drop them in front of us. The boys see us off to work each morning and are heard racing down the stairs before I can even unlock the door coming home from work. They are such a joyful addition to our little family!

Coco and Smokey (adopted Sept. 1, 2015)

Sorry for the delay in sending an update about these girls that I picked up on September 1, 2015.

They settled in pretty quickly (Smokey was definitely the braver of the two!) and really enjoyed exploring their new home. They have a penned off area in the kitchen and are loving the space to run around. They have ad lib hay, some pelleted feed, and I am experimenting with different leafy greens (Kale and romaine are their favourites!). They are still getting used to being picked up, but I have taken them out into the back yard a couple times in a penned enclosure.

I'm so happy to have found them and I know that we will have many happy years and memories to come!

Cashew (adopted June 18, 2015)

Dear Upper Credit Humane Society,

Cashew, the Dobie mix who was adopted on June 18, 2015 is doing wonderful in her new home. Cash loves spending time with the family, and has become the center of attention. She is spoiled with LOTS of toys, that she loves to take EVERYWHERE with her. Cashew is a wonderful addition to our family.

Yours truly,

The Deckers Family

Max (formerly Matrix) - adopted June 26, 2015

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to send a photo of Max all settled in. We've been doing great! He's great with everyone he meets and just loves to cuddle all the time! Can't thank you enough for letting me take him home with me :). More pictures to come!

Have a great day,

Lauren

Hansel and Mandi (formerly Nandi) - adopted June 15, 2015

On June 15,2015, we adopted Hansel and Nandi (we call her Mandi now). Hansel had been at the shelter a long time and overlooked because apparently he was quiet. We thought he was very nice. He was in one room. From the second room we chose Nandi. She seemed sweet. We have an open concept house. We prepared to keep them in an area in the kitchen to get them used to all their new things. Hansel came out of the carrier and looked around. As for Mandi, we saw her back end up and over the cardboard barrier and she was in hiding for the next two days. I don’t even think she knew Hansel was there. She hid in a large workspace with a lot of stuff in it. We gave her everything she needed and left the door closed so we knew at least she was in there. On the third morning, my husband opened the door to this room and left it. Two hours later, I found Hansel and Mandi together! They have become fast friends. She follows him everywhere. They run around the house sounding like elephants. They love to play with toys and spend a lot of time side by side looking out the door. Hansel is definitely not a quiet cat. He is very friendly. They are still a bit skittish, especially Mandi, but they are coming around and learning about their new home. They love to be petted. They were a good choice.

Thank you.

Kathryn and Wayne

Baldwin (adopted July 2, 2015)

Baldwin was adopted on July 2 and joined Bubba Gump, Forrest Gump and their friend (and protector) Sparky the cat at his new home.

Jack (formerly Patch) - adopted June 25, 2015

Patch is doing well in his new home. He is now named Jack. He settled in fast. His family is very happy with him.

Clementine (formerly Eclipse) - adopted June 7, 2015

We adopted Eclipse, now known as "Clementine" almost 3 weeks ago and she is doing awesome! I can't even say that we picked her out, because she definitely chose us! She saw us walk in the room and claimed us as her own.

She started purring the second we took her home and hasn't stopped since! She loves being around people and loves to cuddle and to give you a friendly lick. She is also a very brave cat who allows our toddler nephew to play with her!

She still has to learn that people do not like to be woken up at 5 a.m. to play, but she is getting better everyday!

It's hard to believe that she has only been with us for 3 weeks as she has fit right in like she was always with us.

Thank-you so much for helping us meet our little Clemmie!

~ Megan and Eric

Maggie (formerly Kali) - adopted March 26, 2015

Little Maggie came to us in March 2015 as a tiny puppy you could hold in one hand. She has grown so quickly and by the length of her legs, looks like she has a lot more growing to do.

She has the sweetest, most playful character and she expresses herself with her fuzzy little ears and will do anything for a belly rub. She loves to chew, run crazy in the park and would sit in the sun all day if we let her.

Maggie often forgets how big she is when she tries to “cuddle” with you; she thinks she is still a tiny puppy.

She is incredibly smart and has learned her manners from her bother Milo, but still has much to learn.

She has been a great addition to our family and has stolen our hearts.

Thank you to all for the job you do and for taking such good care of our girl until she found her forever home with us.

Poker and Palazzo (adopted June 2, 2015)

Hi,

It's been a busy couple of weeks but I just wanted to give you an update in the rats! Poker and Palazzo have adjusted really well to their new home. They love exploring and trying new fruits and veggies. I couldn't be happier with these two boys. Thank you so much for all your help. I've attached a picture of them to this email. All the best!

Lana (now known as Lolly) - adopted May 24, 2015

We adopted Lana the Basset (now named Lolly Pop) three Sundays ago and she is doing really well with our other dog Cherry Bomb, cats and children. She's a good dog and we are glad she is here with us. If you are able to give her previous owners an update, tell them she has a good home!
