Gibson - Wilson (Little guy)

Hello,

I wanted to write you this email regarding our recent experience adopting Gibson (aka Wilson, aka Little Guy) from the Upper Credit Humane Society.

Everyone at the shelter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals being cared for and very open to answering questions and offering information about each animal.

We adopted Gibson and love him very much. We had to be sure to adopt the right dog for our family as we have a 1 year old son and needed to be sure the pet we brought home would be tolerant to a toddler and friendly. We were able to meet with Gibson twice before deciding to put in an application for adoption. We did our research and knew the pros and cons of adopting a beagle. We spoke with Karen a lot and she offered lots of information regarding Gibson and what she knew about the breed. We also got to speak with the person who fostered him for a few weeks just before he came to live at the shelter. We knew that Gibson was the right fit for us.

Dutch (AKA Pearson)

Sent: November 5, 2009 9:45 AM

Hello to all at the Upper Credit,

We just wanted to update you on Dutch’s (aka Pearson) progress and send along a couple of pictures for you guys to see how well he is doing. Although we have only had him since the end of August, it feels like he has always been a part of our family. He settled in really well and he always impresses new people that he encounters with his calm and friendly demeanor. He just loves his new neighborhood and all of the new dogs and people he sees on his walks although he still hasn’t gotten used to the horses. He most definitely is a very important member of our family and we let him know on a daily basis how special he is to us.

Thanks to all of you for taking such good care of him before he came to us and for all that you do for the animals in your care! You’re a great bunch of people.

Hello! It's been just over a week since we adopted Dutch and I thought I'd send you an update. We are in love with our new baby! She's SUCH a good dog, she's sweet and gentle, she doesn't get into anything and we haven't had to crate her at all. She has the run of the house but normally goes everywhere with us. She is a dream dog, the lady who owned her previously must have put a lot of love and work into bringing her up so well. At first she was walking around in circles, not sure what to do with her self but she's settled in nicely. I took the week off work to be with her, today is my first day back at work and I hate being away from her! Everyone who meets her can't believe she came from a shelter, I think we've made some people think about adopting. She's such a good little embassador!

Thanks for everything!

Natalie

Suki's Happy Ending

Hi,
I wanted to send an e-mail to everyone, to give you an update about Suki the Siamese cat that I adopted about two weeks ago.
He loves his new home, and he's fitting in perfectly with the new animals. Him and my Puppy Pal are getting along wonderfully, and they treat each other like brothers, even sleeping together during the night.
He's loving life, and I'm so happy he's here.
I want to thank you for making it so easy to choose Suki as my new cat.

Thank you so much! Taryn

Ticker (now Oscar)

Hello everyone!
It's been approximately a week and a half since I adopted Ticker and I am pleased to say that he has settled in extremely well! He has been renamed Oscar and is making friends with Gerrard - a three year old beige tabby, Callie - a red Australian Cattle Dog from Upper Credit Humane in 2008 and Bill - a blue Australian Cattle Dog cross from Meet The Pack Rescue in 2009.

I had some minor concerns about how well Oscar would adjust to two

Georgina's Happy Ending

As you all know Georgina was at the shelter for a long time. I had no intentions of adding another cat to my 5 at home already but I could see this senior cat was losing faith...She's been with us for 2 years and is much loved. She has a regal air about her and she deserves to . Georgia has recently been operated on and diagnosed with the most aggressive cancer but apparently she doesn't know that because she is still active and continues to eat like a horse....

She has us wrapped around her fingers ..

Sage & Sachem's Happy Ending

Take care Deanna Posted July 28/09

Hello Everyone,
We just wanted to give you an update on Sage and Sachem as they are doing great! They completely feel like they are part of the family. We have not put up a fence as the dogs don't run from us. They have ran off twice in 5 months b/c of chasing something, but I think we keep them pretty much entertained and exercised that they just hang out on the porch on the front lawn with us. We don't even need leashes unless we take them off the property and down the country roads.
Sage is a little traveler that likes to sit under the tires on my truck until I take him to work and he goes nuts when he gets his daily car ride. My husband has to run up the stairs and dive into bed before sachem so that there is room for him...LOL.
Half of sages face was paralyzed about a month after we got him, and we thought he had a stroke. The VET said it was no stroke and he has a thyroid disorder which we give him pills and eye drops as his eye was having problems blinking. The issue is starting to resolve itself and he is doing much better with the pills.
Anyway, here are some recent pictures of them so you can see how well they are doing! I still can't believe no one wanted these dogs.... They are Wonderful!

Star's Happy Ending

Good morning Andrea et al,
A quick note to let you know how happy we and Star are!!! She is the GREATEST dog. Star knows her name very well, comes, sits, lays down, loves to play fetch and adores Cassie and Jessie. She loves to go to the barn and help with the horses. She is soooo smart and obedient. It is lovely to see her going out to the pasture to see the horses, Her lovely tail up and wagging constantly. She's wonderful in the house, Must of had a home as the first thing she did after getting here was get up on the couch!! (That ended quickly!) She's getting used to all the cats, Still thinks there for playing with sometimes. The cats are getting her straight. One is already rubbing up against her! She's very quiet, Dosn't bar unnecessarily but lets us know if someone arrives. We've left her alone for short periods up to 2 hours and she's just fine. We made sure she had her own bed (blanket) and a toy, "hedgie" the little hedgehog she chose in the store. She even knows hedgies name and goes and gets it when asked. She has a beautiful smile! The sore on her back is healed. I used Proviodine solution and it worked great. Her incision is also healed. I really can't say enough about star!! She is the most wonderful companion to us all!!! Thank you very much for choosing us!!!!!!! Will send photos soon.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Spike's Happy Ending

Hi Everyone,

We are so happy that Spike has come to live with us. We have had a very empty home since having lost our cat two years ago and our dog last fall. It seems that we spent a long time looking for the right cat. We must have been just
waiting for Spike. One look at his picture on the website and it was a match made in heaven. Once we made our visit to your shelter and were able to spend a little time with your resident cats we knew that Spike was the one for us.

Mitzi's Happy Ending

Hi, My name is Mitzi and my mom tells me I'm not very photogenic and I'm much cuter in person...( she's right too ). The really great news is that I chewed up only 1 couch, 1 ottoman and have gone to smaller items such as shoes , reading glasses and I just love throw rugs ! I simply have no idea where I get the energy from to chew all this stuff because I run and swim all day long ... and I want another dog because my sister and brother are too old and can't keep up with me and the cats just roll their eyes at me like saying 'oh, brother " but mom says NO MORE PETS !!... 8 is enough !! and besides there's no more furniture for any more pets to lay on anymore.

Our Wee Brillo!!

We are thrilled that Brillo is settling in well with us! She was quite shy the first week, and she found comfort hiding under beds and in her carrier. Well... three weeks later she is the 'queen ' of the house!!!

Brillo's favourite toy is a mouse on the end of a string, that she chases after, and drags all over the house! She has just started to relax around the TV, and now enjoys laying beside it, or up on the couch watching the hockey games. She bounds up and down the stairs when she is ready to play !

Brillo is quite the flirt when people come to visit. We kept her name- it is unique, and we really like it! However she does have a few nicknames already.....Brill, Boo, Houdini ...and of course 'pretty girl' !! She has a wee girly meow...and lets us know when her food dishes are empty!

Brillo loves laying across the couches looking out the windows, and loves taking her afternoon nap on her 'Montreal Canadiens' blanket!

Brillo is loving her life here...and we love her too!!

Hugo's Happy Ending

I have attached a couple of pictures of Hugo for all of you at the shelter to see. I am so happy to see the happy endings page back up so that we can update you on Hugo. We adopted him last June after the loss of our beloved dog Max. He has been such a god send to us. He is the most loving and giving dog I think we have ever owned. He enjoys going to the dog park and loves to go to the trailer in the summer. He loves his routines and hates when anyone throws him off. Hugo is so smart it is unbelievable. Even though he is deaf, through hand signals he has learned all kinds of commands and constantly keeps an eye on us so he knows if he is allowed to do something or not. We have just had the addition of a new baby into the house and he is so gentle and loving with the new baby. We all love him so much and are so greatfull to have him that we thought everyone should know.

TEXAS HAS FOUND A HOME

Texas had received huge exposure in the newspapers, one in particular had featured him four times and still not a single call! Thinking about it, it was plain to see that he needed even more exposure. I contacted German Shepherd Rescue of Toronto and explained the situation and perhaps they could assist in finding our Tex a home as well. His picture was posted on their website, with reference to Upper Credit if you wanted to know more about him. Well…….

I will never forget the day, Groundhog Day, February 2, 2009. A lady had seen his picture on the Shepherd Rescue site and decided she should come and see our Tex. As fate would have it, we were out in the parking lot with Texas when she drove in. She knew right away that it was HIM. I had never seen Texas give ANYONE kisses. This woman got down to his level and asked him if he gave kisses and boy, did she get some nice kisses. She thought he was “absolutely gorgeous”. I think we all knew right then and there that this was a match made in heaven. This lady was a life long shepherd owner, and had recently lost her dog of 9 years and was looking for a new companion.

Sarabeth Silver-Paws' Happy Ending (Braunwyn)

We adopted Braunwyn in February 2009. She had been at the shelter for over a year. We felt with her lovely personality she would fit in well in our home with our elder cats and we were right. Unfortunately our two eldest cats (who had been shelter mates 17 years ago when adopted ) died within 2 months of each other this summer. Braunwyn who was renamed Sarabeth Silver-Paws has been great company for Victoria (age 15) since the loss of Kelsey and Autumn. She does not give long steady purrs but rather trills when she is happy. She is a lovely girl who the vet says is at least seven years old so we are looking forward to many more years of her wonderful trill. I have attached her photo for I am sure you will remember her beautiful soft silver coat and small deepset eyes.
