Lorelei
(2006 - Oct. 5, 2013) |
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you good folks
that on Saturday, October 5, 2013 we had to put our Lorelei down due to
the rapid onset of Degenerative Myelopathy. We can't believe how quickly
this insidious disease took Lorelei.
On one day I was outside with her in the early morning and 7 hours later I went to take her outside again and she could not get up and walk as her right rear leg was not responding. Within 24 hours both back legs were not responding. We were giving her prescribed medication from the veterinarian but she was not responding to it. I spent the next ten days taking 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening cleaning her and feeding her from my hand as she would not eat from her bowl. By the end of the second week Lorelei's quality of life was not good and we had to do what was inevitable.
Lorelei was the most openly grateful dog I have owned. When you pet her, fed her, freshened her water or gave her a treat she would lick your hand to thank you. She never did anything destructive in the house or outside. She was an amazing dog and a good family member. So sad when we were hoping and planning to spend many more years with her.
Regards,
Robert, Dorota, Alex
